Shaktiveda Advanced Studies is designed to further the knowledge of those who are seriously studying the ancient healing art of Ayurveda. The understanding of Consciousness is brought into every aspect of the Course.
Pulse Diagnosis Course -
Nadi Vijnan
Understanding the Nadis, or channels of subtle energy, is an important foundation to learning the pulse. Emphasis is place on the subtle, spiritual aspects of learning how to feel Ayurvedic Pulse. The course will be in a retreat type environment - incorporating meditation and pranayama. This allows you to go deeper into the Awareness of the subtle energies of the Pulse.
Each Pulse Weekend Workshop is held approximately every other month. Please Check the web site Calendar for specific dates. The next beginning Course will be the Summer of 2010. Please contact us for an application to join the Pulse Course.
Beginning Pulse Course
The Beginning Course contains 4 weekend Workshops. Topics covered in this course are: Superficial Pulse, Prakriti Pulse, Vata Subdoshas, Pitta Subdoshas, and Kapha Subdoshas. You will learn an in depth understanding of these aspects of Ayurveda. The course places an emphasis on both Intellectual Knowledge along with Practical Experience.
Intermediate Pulse Course
The Intermediate Pulse Course contains 4 weekend Workshops. Topics covered in this course are: Dhatus (Seven Tissue Layers), Integrating the Knowledge of Superficial, Subdosha, Prakriti, and Dhatu levels of the Pulse.
Advanced Pulse Course
The Advanced Pulse Course contains 4 weekend Workshops. Topics covered in this course are: Delving into a greater understanding of the Pulse and how it relates to individual imbalances and conditions, how to monitor the healing process, learning specific pulse combinations that indicate specific problems, and how to use this invaluable tool to get the best results in your ayurvedic practice.
Pancha Karma Training
Level 1 - Shakti Therapist - 38 hours
This course includes learning the 6 position Abhyanga taught over 2 weekends and a 1 day course of Shirodhara. To be qualified for the certification, you must have completed all of the courses. In addition, you must document completing 3 practice sessions of each therapy.
Level 2 - Pancha Karma Therapist - 86 hours
Prequisite: Completion of Level 1
This course includes learning Shakti Lepa Shodhana, Dough Dams, Foot Soak, Basic Bastis, Beginning Pancha Karma Design, Vata Marma Abhyanga, and Pitta Marma Abhyanga. To be qualified for the certification, you must have completed all of the courses. In addition, you must document completing 3 practice sessions of each therapy.
Level 3 - Advanced Pancha Karma Therapist - 107 hours
Prerequisite: Complete of Level 1 and Level 2
This course includes learning Udvarthana, Pinda Svedhana, Nasya with Facial Massage / Steam, Advanced Pancha Karma Design, Sepcialty Bastis, Netra Basti, Advanced Chakra Treatments. To be qualified for the certification, you must have completed all of the courses. In addition, you must document completing 3 practice sessions of each therapy.
Marma Chikitsa Therapist - 95 hours
This 6 course series will allow you to have a broad and deep understanding of the Marma system. Each course goes into great detail about where the points are, how they affect the mind/body, and how to bring balance to the points. Each of the 6 courses are taught over a 2 day weekend.
Courses included: Upper Body Marma Therapy, Vata Marma Abhyanga, Pitta Marma Abhyanga, Spinal Balance Marma Part 1 & 2, and Kosha Marma Therapy. You may take the courses in any order. To be qualified for the certification, you must have completed all 6 courses. In addition, you must document completing 3 practice sessions of each therapy. You may desire to do the Internship Program with either Dr. Cravatta or a Shaktiveda staff member. We will guide you through your client’s case histories - explaining in great detail how to get the best results and integrating all of the other course work together for you. We will refine your abilities to practice Ayurveda. This is done on a one-to-one basis.

SAS Pre-requisites
One needs to have a background in Ayurveda in order to qualify for the course. This may be fulfilled by either studying at a recognized Ayurvedic School or through other means.
If you have not done a program at one of the schools, then you will need to explain how you have done your ayurvedic studying. The course is not intended to be someone’s first exposure to Ayurveda - and the pace will move quite steadily. If you are interested in taking this course, we can suggest methods of study that will prepare you for our program.
